The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) constituted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to probe Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members, including his three children, Hussain Sharif, Hassan Sharif, and Maryam Safdar-Sharif, was released today.
The summary of the report (paragraph 2 of Volume-I) states that the JIT found the following:
- Maryam Nawaz was the beneficial owner of the two offshore companies, Nielsen and Nescoll Limited, and hence the four London luxury apartments in use by the Sharif family since the early 1990’s.
- Nawaz Sharif is Chairman of an offshore company called FZE Capital.
- The documentation related to the sale of Gulf Steel that were presented by the Sharif family in the Supreme Court were fictitious.
- The trust deed presented by the Sharif family in the Supreme Court showing Maryam Safdar-Sharif held ownership of offshore companies as a trustee was falsified.
